Patricia Ploshehanski says:
My name is Patricia Ploshehanski. I am 48 years old. I've been married for almost 25 years and have 4 children. I've been overweight for most of my life and, at times, obese. Throughout my life I would diet to loose weight then gain it back again, plus more. I never knew how to keep the weight off. I was also a smoker.
At the age of 43 I quit smoking. This was difficult for me because I smoked for 30 years. I was afraid of life without cigarettes but I know I needed to do it. When I quit smoking, I was already significantly overweight. Then I replaced cigarettes with food and gained even more weight. I wasn't sure how much I gained because I didn't even own a scale. I began having difficulties sleeping, walking and going up stairs. My joints ached and my back always hurt. I was very unhappy and angry at what I let happen to me. I knew it was time to do something. I had a lot of weight to loose.
I joined Weight Watchers because it seemed like a well rounded plan. When I finally weighed in at my first meeting I was shocked to see the scale read 260lbs. I took things slowly and learned about food choices and portion control. Day after day I stuck to my eating plan and after about 10 months I reached my goal. I had lost 100lbs. Hooray for me! But it wasn't long before I realized I was thin but not fit. I was out of shape and sagging. I had arm waddles and no muscle tone. I knew how to loose weight but I didn't know how to maintain it. I knew that my next step was exercise...but how? Exercise was foreign to me. I didn’t know where to begin.
My niece’s husband, who has a wonderful physique, suggested that I join a gym. He showed my some basic exercises to get me started and asked me if I was familiar with Peter Nielsen and Peter’s Principles. He told me to check out Peter’s advice on nutrition, health and exercise. He told me that Peter is the total package and he really gets it right when it comes to exercise technique and healthy eating. That’s how I was introduced to Peter’s Principles.
With Peter I began to learn more about muscle groups, using good form during a workout, eating healthy, not just low-calorie and anti-oxidant rich foods. My focus gradually changed from staying thin to becoming healthy and fit. I began to study different workout routines and the importance of daily cardio. I learned that the all the different vitamins and minerals we need are found in fruits and vegetable and whole foods without a lot of processing. Whole grains and fiber, lean protien and good fats became very important to me.
After a while, I felt the best I had in my entire life. I finally got the full impact of what Peter means when he says "You are what you eat." I love the way exercise and healthy eating makes me feel and Peter was a big part of my discovery. I am attaching my before and after pictures. As you can see in the before picture, I never posed for a photo without turning to the side...I thought it made me look slimmer.
Thanks for you time ...Patty
