Daddies, Daughters, and Diets

August 17, 2011

Recent research shows a good place for dads to start when giving health advice to their daughters might be to look in the mirror! The study shows that a father's fat level is a better predictor of his daughter's weight problem than the mother's weight or metabolism! The study looked at a group of girls over a 3-year period. The girls who gained the most weight during the study also had the heaviest dads. Thirty to forty percent of obesity is genetic, while sixty to seventy percent is due to lack of exercise and over-eating! So, dads, take your daughters hiking or walking-whatever works. But be sure to lead by example!
