The Benefits of Pomegranate Juice

March 22, 2012

Pomegranates are not as well known as their fruity counterparts, but when it comes to healthy benefits they are in a league of their own! Studies now confirm that pomegranate juice reduces LDL and bad cholesterol, and just 8 ounces of pomegranate juice per day reduced high blood pressure by 5% in some test subjects. The juice mimicked the effects of some hypertension drugs. Like tea, pomegranate juice is packed with cancer fighting anti-oxidants called polyphenols. It's also low in calories, about 140 in an eight ounce glass! Whole pomegranate fruit is also a delicious addition to your healthy diet strategy and kids love eating the seeds!
