Whole Grain Facts

September 19, 2013

Are you eating whole grains as part of your daily nutritional regimen? You should be! If you're not, here are five reasons to start today. A recent study of a quarter of a million people found whole grains can help fight off five diseases: heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, colorectal cancer and inflammatory disease. Researchers found that people who ate two and a half servings of whole grains daily were 20-30 percent less likely to develop those five diseases. Experts believe it's the combination of fiber, vitamins, minerals and other nutrients that are found in whole grains. Serve up some oatmeal or whole grain cereal for breakfast, whole wheat bread at lunch and brown rice at dinner. It's simple and will help you live healthier and longer.
