Blood Sugar and Memory

May 01, 2014

Recent research now demonstrates a correlation between blood sugar levels and short term memory! Researchers found that adults with high levels of glucose performed worse on tests of short term memory than those with normal levels. In fact, the part of the brain that's used for learning and memory were actually smaller! High blood sugar levels mean the body can't effectively remove glucose from the blood and body tissues -- including the brain where its used as fuel! Right now researchers are examining whether the problem can be reversed through diet and exercise. It's one thing when improper diet affects the way you look, but it's totally different when it may affect the way you think!
