Blood Sugar and Memory

April 23, 2015

Recent research seems to point to a link between blood sugar and memory problems! Researchers found that adults with high levels of glucose performed worse on tests of short-term memory than those with normal glucose levels. The parts of the brain that are used for learning and memory were actually smaller! High blood sugar levels mean the body can not effectively remove glucose from the blood and body tissues -- including the brain -- where it is used as fuel. Researchers are examining ways in which the problem can be reversed through diet and exercise. In other words, an improper diet may not only affect the way you look, it may affect the way you think!
