Sun and Cancer Risks

September 03, 2015

Using sunblock against the dangers of skin cancer is a no-brainer. However recent research demonstrates that moderate amounts of sunlight can cut the risk of certain types of cancer. Scientists found that mortality rates for breast, ovarian, and prostate cancer are lower in certain sunny regions. They believe the phenomenon happens because sunlight triggers vitamin D production in the body. Lab evidence shows that vitamin D can help limit cancer cells and stop them from spreading. This is especially important important as we age ... by the time we are twenty years old vitamin D production drops by about thirty percent!
